SUBANG JAYA: Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said yesterday the 20 per cent rebate for users of Touch 'n Go and SmartTag who clock up 80 or more transactions a month is applicable to all toll highways.
"There are still some people who are unclear (about the rebate). They think that it applies only to the North-South Expressway."
He was speaking after visiting the construction site of a 380-metre link between the Kesas highway's Kinrara interchange and Taman Sri Manja here.
Motorists can claim the rebate at 136 Touch 'n Go sales counters at certain highways every month or once in three months. It will be credited into their electronic cards. The rebate begins on Sept 1.
Shaziman said the rebate was only an interim solution and that the Economic Planning Unit was studying on improving highway travel.
"I believe they are nearly at the end of their study. Once it is completed, it will be presented to the cabinet."
On the collapse of the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium roof on June 2, Shaziman said the report, which was submitted to his ministry last week, was being studied.
He said the details of the report would only be revealed after the cabinet had discussed it.
On the cracks found on the Damansara-Puchong Highway, Shaziman said based on the report submitted by the consultant appointed by the highway concessionaire, the cracks were superficial.
The stretch was therefore safe, he added.
