KUALA KRAU: The district has requested RM90mil to upgrade and widen three main Federal roads under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP), Kuala Krau MP Datuk Ismail Mohd Said said.
He said the allocation, if approved, would be used to upgrade the Kampung Awah-Simpang Felda Jengka 8 and Simpang Felda Jengka 18-Felda Jengka 21 roads as well as widen the stretch from Felda Jengka 24 to Kampung Kuala Mai.
“The amount for the projects will be requested under the 10MP as the three stretches are among the main roads used by many motorists.
“The stretch from Kampung Awah to Jengka 8 is approximately 49km and is expected to cost RM50mil,” he said.
Ismail said the stretch near the junction of Kampung Awah was narrow, winding and uneven, posing a threat to road-users.
He said to prevent any untoward incidents, it should be upgraded as soon as possible.
“In addition, this stretch is frequently used by heavy vehicles ferrying oil palm and rubber.
“It is also the main road linking the completed Kuala Krau bridge across Sungai Pahang to help spur economic growth in the district,” he added.
Ismail said the stretch from Felda Jengka 18 - Felda Jengka 21 would cost about RM20mil, involving a distance of 20km.
He said the balance of RM20mil was needed to widen a 20km stretch from Felda Jengka 24 to Kampung Kuala Mai, linking up with the new Kuala Krau bridge.
“The state government is aware of the difficulties faced by residents living in Felda land schemes in commuting daily on these stretches.
“As such, due attention is given to widen the stretch for their benefit.
