KUALA TERENGGANU: Two men from Cameron Highlands on a routine trip to supply vegetables, were badly assaulted by a group of motorcyclists along the tourist belt of Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin here yesterday.
In the 12.30am incident, Chua Chun Kit, 24, and Lee Tan Satt, 40, both from Brinchang, were involved in an accident when their pick-up truck grazed one of the motorcycles. Seeing their friend writhing in pain, the motorcyclists became aggressive.
Fearing for their safety, Chua and Lee fled the scene and headed towards the Ladang roundabout, but the motorcyclists managed to corner them near the Wisma Seri Pantai flats, about a kilometre away.
They pulled the duo out of the truck and took turns to beat them up.
Policemen arrived shortly and the motorcyclists fled.
Both victims, who regularly supplied vegetables to Kampung Cina traders here, were admitted to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.
