Better to use sensor-eye system

USING unmanned toll pickups can reduce toll charges dramatically in comparison with conventional toll booths or stations.

In Melbourne, Australia, toll collection for vehicles using the freeways/highways is picked up by overhead sensor-eye detectors, as is in Singapore, too.

The advantages are numerous, such as reduction in maintenance and labour costs to keep the toll booths in service around the clock, and more importantly there won’t be a traffic jam building up at the point of entry into toll collection hot spots.

Another thing is motorists will enjoy the convenience of having their prepaid devices updated or upload whenever they pass the overhead detectors so they can always use the freeway/highway without worrying about having sufficient credit.

They can pass through the toll and continue with their journey without having to get out of the car and walk to the toll office to make payment or buy credits for the prepaid devices.

Motorists will be billed for the credit amount uploaded to their prepaid devices, all done automatically.

I call on the Government to issue a directive to expressway concessionaires to have all toll booths removed and be replaced with overhead sensor-eye detectors.
