BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have busted a car theft syndicate which stole and cannibalised vehicles for parts before selling them to workshops.
District police chief Assistant Comissioner Dr Mohamed Shah Hussain Shah said three suspects, aged between 20 and 30, were arrested following a tip-off.
He said the suspects led police to the recovery of seven cars, including a Proton Satria, Proton Wira Aeroback, Toyota Corona, Perodua Kancil and Proton Putra, as well as various spare parts which had been stripped from other stolen cars. The suspects were picked up from a workshop in Jalan Kulim here Tuesday.
"They were busy dismantling parts from the stolen vehicles when a raiding party stormed into the workshop and caught them by surprise."
