IPOH: Police have arrested the driver of an express bus that was involved in two accidents at Km341.9 of the North-South Expressway near Bidor.
Tapah OCPD Supt Roslan Bek Ahmad said the 47-year-old man was arrested following the 4.50am incident on Sunday.
“We have taken a sample of his blood to test for drugs and alcohol. He was subsequently released on bail,” he said yesterday.
An elderly man was killed while six others were seriously injured after a container lorry, which was transporting paper reels, ploughed into the rear of the stalled bus just as the passengers were evacuating.
The bus had earlier been involved in an accident with another lorry, hitting it in the rear.
According to Supt Roslan, blood samples were also taken from the drivers of the two lorries.
“Of the six seriously injured victims, one has been referred to the Teluk Intan Hospital. The rest have been transferred to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here,” he said.
