KUALA LUMPUR: The police will come down hard on the Mat Rempit who attacked and robbed five women at a petrol station in Bangsar here.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said police had retrieved the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the petrol station and sent it to the Chemistry Department to identify the suspects.
“We have not picked up anyone yet but we will take stern action against those involved once we get them,'' he said when contacted yesterday.
ACP Wan Bari said police would also beef up security where the alleged incident had taken place.
It was reported yesterday that 14 Mat Rempit ganged up to beat and rob five women during an early morning fuel stop on Saturday.
A CCTV surveillance camera captured the attack on the three sisters and two of their cousins at the Shell petrol station.
Twelve young thugs, on six motorcycles, were said to be “hovering around the station” while a pair on another motorcycle filled up as the women drove in about 3.30am.
The women sustained light injuries and incurred losses amounting to RM3,000.
