KOTA BARU: Traffic jams in Pasir Mas town will be a thing of the past when a new flyover opens just before the Hari Raya holidays.

State Housing, Public Works, Utility and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Mej (rtd) Anizam Abdul Rahman said the flyover would be completed two days before the holidays.

He added that the second phase of the flyover was expected to be completed by December.

“Many motorists have complained that traffic in the town comes to a standstill during the Hari Raya season.

“We hope the flyover will reduce this problem significantly,” he said after attending an exco meeting chaired by Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat here yester- day.

On another matter, Anizam denied that Kelantan was facing water supply problems as claimed by Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin on Tuesday.

He added that if this was so, it would have been difficult for the authorities to build Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and Universiti Sains Malaysia in the state.
