KUALA LUMPUR: Police have smashed a gang of foreigners who robbed their victims by feigning injury after getting involved in traffic incidents.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohan Singh said four Indian nationals, aged between 23 and 27, were arrested after they staged a fake accident at the MRR2 highway at about 11pm on Saturday.
In the incident, a man suddenly crossed the road and fell in front of a car, which was being driven by a chef who was going back to Wangsa Melawati.
The chef offered the “victim” a ride to the hospital, but another man claiming to be the victim’s friend turned up and told him to drive them to their house in Kampung Pandan instead.
Upon reaching the place, four more men suddenly appeared and tied the chef up before robbing him of RM40.
“The robbers forced him to give them the PIN number of his bank card and withdrew RM1,240 from an ATM machine before releasing him at 2am,” ACP Mohan Singh said, adding that the chef lodged a report at the Cheras police station.
He said police raided the house two hours later and arrested four suspects, while two others managed to escape.
