SCHOOLBUSES that are over 30 years old should be allowed on the road, said the Federation of Schoolbus Operators Association.
In making an appeal to the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Ministry, the federation’s president Chee Ah Tey told Sin Chew Daily that new schoolbuses were expensive.
Under government regulation, schoolbuses that are more than 30 years old are banned on the road.
Citing Johor as an example, Chee said some 50% of the schoolbuses were between 20 and 30 years old.
“If the Government were to allow old schoolbus to remain on the road, it would alleviate the burden of bus drivers,” he said.http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?fi ... sec=nation
