Postby admin » Mon Nov 21, 2011 3:44 am

KUALA LUMPUR: RapidKL has announced a new ticketing system which will streamline fare transaction among its public transport services, beginning with the Ampang and Kelana Jaya light rail transit (LRT) lines this year and followed by its monorail and bus services next year.

With immediate effect, the system known as the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) provides a single ticket for both LRT lines, which allows commuters to transit between lines more conveniently at interchange stations.

The AFC system, which is being implemented in 49 LRT stations, will feature new sets of automatic gates, ticket vending machines, passenger service machines, mobile validating machines, station and central computer system, initialisation and personalisation machines.

The system is to be fully implemented by the end of the month.

The integration of the system for the monorail service is scheduled to complete within the first quarter of next year while the integration for the RapidKL bus service is expected to complete by middle of next year.

Integrated ticketing system kicks off

Postby admin » Tue Nov 29, 2011 1:45 am

KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad’s (Prasarana) project for full integration of its public transport ticketing system has kicked off.

Its first phase, involving the two LRT lines of Ampang and Kelana Jaya, went into full integration yesterday after having operated on separate systems for more than 12 years.

Its communications head Shuhainie Shamsuddin said the old magnetic ticket system had been replaced with the new MyRapid pass or single journey token.

Now, commuters will no longer be required to swipe out of the Masjid Jamek integrated station when switching between the Ampang and Kelana Jaya lines.

She said commuters could also use the Touch ‘n Go cards to travel on the LRT.
