PASIR PUTEH: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will place at least 5,300 enforcement officers at accident-prone areas around the country from Aug 14 to Sept 14 in an effort to reduce accidents during the Hari Raya period.
JPJ director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan said the department would focus on roads that had been identified as dangerous.
He added that the officers would be stationed at the areas on a 24-hour basis to monitor the situation and ensure road users adhere to traffic laws.
“Although roadblocks will not be mounted to avoid road congestion, the presence of my officers will help ensure motorists drive with care,” Solah told reporters after closing a school programme One Community, One JPJ at Kampung Gaal here yesterday.
He also handed over 262 B2 motorcycle licences to local residents who passed their tests.
