KUALA LUMPUR: To increase its capacity to accommodate more cars in the future, the public car park at the Bandar Tasik Selatan light rail transit (LRT) station will be closed with immediate effect until May 2012 for the construction of a four-storey parking bay.
The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement said, the construction work for the multi-bay parking is to ensure decent parking capacity for the Park and Ride project.
DBKL said members of the public could alternatively park their vehicles at several locations such as the South Integrated Terminal, Bukit Jalil, Bandar Tun Razak and Sungai Besi LRT stations.
The Park and Ride project was developed to encourage vehicle owners to travel by public transport, thus reducing the dependency on their personal vehicles.
By providing such a facility, the public can conveniently park their cars adjacent to the LRT station and catch a train.
