JOHOR BARU: The new 30.6km coastal highway linking Nusajaya with Johor Baru will cost RM1.1bil.
Johor deputy state secretary Datuk Md Alwee Abd Rashid said the six-lane highway, to be ready in three years, would have seven bridges and three multi-tiered junctions.
The coastal highway, to be privatised, is expected to ease traffic flow between the city centre and the Johor State New Administrative Centre in Nusajaya.
Md Alwee said the junctions would be located at Jalan Abu Bakar – next to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, at Danga Bay and at Nusajaya.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi performed the ground-breaking ceremony at Danga Bay.
In addition, a traffic dispersal scheme will be implemented involving the Kebun Teh Link, Kampung Melayu Danga, Jalan Skudai/Danga Bay, Jalan Yahya Awal/Jalan Abu Bakar, Jalan Kebun Teh, Jalan Kuning, Jalan Datuk Sulaiman, Jalan Bakar Batu/Tebrau and Jalan Utama/Kampung Melayu.
