JOHOR BARU: The residents of Bayu Puteri Apartments here are frustrated about the lack of road signs along the road leading up to the Permas Jaya bridge.

Bayu Puteri 2 apartment Resident’s Association chairman Gary Lee said some minor accidents had occurred along Jalan Bayu Puteri 1/2 three months ago.

“A lot of road users make illegal U-turns along the road to save the hassle of going a distance to do so at Kampung Bakar Baru.

“I hope the developers will take the necessary action quickly before any lives are lost,” he said at a press conference organised by MCA Youth chief Kua Song Tuck here recently.

Another resident Jenny Law, 50, said the lack of signage had created confusion among road users.

“There are residents from 1,600 units here using the road and the situation is dire especially during peak hours.

“When I exit the apartment, cars will be coming from different directions,” she said.

Law added that there was a sign leading road users into the road turning, but it was actually an exit.

Another resident Tan Chee Cheong, 36, was worried for the safety of school children who crossed the road often to walk to their school nearby.

“I suggested for pedestrian bridge to be built there so that the children could cross the busy road safely,” he said.

Commenting on the residents’ woes, Kua urged the developers to look into the matter as soon as possible.

“The Residents’ Association representatives have met with the developer who said they would look into the matter.
