KUANTAN: Pahang traffic police will increase its monitoring efforts at all districts throughout the 17th Ops Sikap which will start Wednesday and will involve some 300 men stationed at strategic locations.
Its enforcement and administrative officer Assistant Superintendent Zainalabidin Othman said focus would be on 33 locations including the East Coast Expressway.
”Among the killer stretches that have been identified are Batu 7, Jalan Merapoh-Lipis in Lipis, km138 Jalan Muadzam Shah-Segamat, Jalan Kuantan By Pass, Jalan Lanchang, Jalan Kuantan-Kemaman near Sungai Ular and Jalan Kuantan-Kemaman near Cherating.
”In view of the operation to be carried out and the coming of the Hari Raya celebration, all motorists are strongly advised to be considerate, observe good driving manners and abide by the rules,” he said here on Monday.
He added that among the measures that motorists should always remember was to plan their trips accordingly.
It would help to reduce accident risks as the number of vehicles on the road would increase especially during festivals, he said.
ASP Zainalabidin also said the police would not compromise with any trafic offenders who violated the rules, adding that state police chief Datuk Robiah Abdul Ghani would officially launch the state-level Ops Sikap at the Gambang toll plaza this Friday.
