New pedestrian bridge to link Kerinchi LRT station to Bangsar South

Getting to the Kerinchi LRT station will be a breeze for residents of Bangsar South and Kerinchi after the pedestrian bridge is completed in May.

The 200m-long bridge, built by UOA Holdings Sdn Bhd, is from Bangsar South Horizon 2 to the existing pedestrian bridge over the Federal Highway.

The only pedestrian bridge now over the Federal Highway is a 20-minute walk for the residents of Bangsar South and Kerinchi.

The new bridge includes a link station serviced by six escalators and a glass lift and will be installed with security cameras.

UOA Holdings chief operating officer (development) David Khor said the RM6.6mil bridge would be completed in five months.

“The bridge is part of the RM4.5bil Bangsar South City integrated development by the company that is transforming the landscape in Kampung Kerinchi,” added Khor.

Bangsar South City consists of five main zones and the pedestrian bridge will be useful for the residents and stakeholders of Bangsar South as well as those working in the Plaza Pantai area who rely on public transport.

The five zones are The Village, The Park Residences, The Sphere, The Horizon and The Vertical, which includes office towers, a hotel tower, a mall, retail outlets and homes.

For Nor Azman, who lives in Kampung Kerinchi, the new bridge could be the answer to a safer and shorter journey to Bangsar South.

“I take at least 15 minutes to walk and this bridge will possibly cut the time in half. Moreover, the bridge will shield us from the heat and rain,” he added.

However, the bridge from the Plaza Pantai over the Federal Highway needs to be repaired but the maintenance is the responsibility of Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
