KUALA LUMPUR: Ignore phone calls claiming to be Federal police officers offering to slash traffic summons fines.
Bukit Aman said it received about 50 complaints daily from people who said they received calls asking whether they wanted to have their fines reduced.
The lower payments could be paid into the bank account number of the callers.
Bukit Aman assistant director of management (Public Relations) ACP Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said recipients of the calls should obtain particulars of the callers, such as name, rank and position.
"Such a verification process can prevent fraud purportedly from the Bukit Aman police headquarters," he said.
The calls were made from 03-22662222, 03-22663444 and several other telephone numbers of the Bukit Aman police headquarters.
