PETALING JAYA: Freight forwarders will increase their charges due to concerns that the recent diesel hikes have severely impacted the transport industry.
The Selangor Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (SFFLA) in a statement said the increase would range from 25% to 30% (short haul sector) and from 30% to 40% (movement to outstation).
The move comes from a deliberation of how the diesel increases have affected the association’s members who operate small fleet of general trucks.
The SFFLA added that numerous factors that have to be considered included the type of goods, volume of goods involved and the readiness of shippers to enhance their operations.
“Forward planning by shippers would certainly ease the waiting time and improve all-round efficiency to the logistics industry,” the statement said.
In view of the continuous increases in fuel prices, the SFFLA also hoped that those involved in the logistics industry would take positive steps to improve their pre-planning.
