SEREMBAN: Two policemen cheated death when a lorry they were trying to block rammed into their patrol car at Km244.5 of the North-South Expressway, near the Senawang toll plaza yesterday morning.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the patrol car was badly damaged but the policemen were unhurt.

He said the policemen were patrolling the Seremban-Tampin stretch when they became suspicious of the driver in the one tonne lorry, which was carrying metal scaffolding.

"The driver was ordered to stop but instead, he sped off towards the North-South Expressway through the Senawang toll plaza heading south.

"The policemen pursued the lorry for two kilometres before overtaking and blocking it."
However, the lorry driver and an attendant rammed the car and escaped on foot into a nearby jungle.

Saiful Azly said police were looking for the two suspects and urged the public who have information, to contact the nearest police station.
