KUALA LUMPUR: Smiling could help tone down the rude and selfish attitude of some drivers, especially during the balik kampung rush, Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal said.
“A smile reflects patience, calmness and friendliness. So road users can exercise manners on the road and reach their destination safely,” he said at the launch of the fourth Courtesy Campaign on the Road, held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Hentian Duta here yesterday.
The theme of the campaign is Memandu Dengan Senyuman (Drive with a Smile).
Shafie said the reckless attitude and impatience of motorists had contributed to the increase in accidents during festive seasons.
Shafie was confident the campaign would increase public awareness on being more courteous on the road.
