IPOH: The police have issued 257 summonses for various traffic offences during an operation at the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza here on Monday.

Bukit Aman traffic police officer Deputy Supt Ahmad Adnan Basri said the operation, from 8am to 8pm, also saw 10 express bus drivers being hauled up.

”Among the offences committed by the drivers were talking on their mobile phone while behind the wheel, overtaking on the emergency lane and road hogging,” he said on Tuesday.

The drivers, said DSP Ahmad Adnan, were nabbed by policemen posing as passengers.

The policemen, he said, were travelling from Bukit Kayu Hitam to Tanjung Malim and from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh.

At the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza, a total of 25 bus drivers were summoned for offences such as speeding and brake light failure, added DSP Ahmad Adnan.
