KUALA LUMPUR: Ops Warta has been put on hold temporarily after police discovered discrepancies in the addresses and other details of errant motorists.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said police did not want to embarrass anyone when they come knocking on the doors.
“This is why we are now cross checking the addresses and vehicle registration details before acting.
“It is not easy to embark on an operation of this scale where thousands of motorists are to be arrested,” he said.
Musa said police were sensitive to such matters and did not want to be accused of being inconsiderate and high handed in carrying out their duties.
He said he had directed his officers to give him a detailed briefing on the entire operation before proceeding with it.
He said motorists should use the reprieve period to settle their outstanding summonses.
“Do not wait till the very last minute before rushing to our counters as it may cause our systems to crash.
