KUALA LUMPUR: How does one cruise on the road without having to worry about petrol prices? With an electric scooter or bicycle, of course.
Better yet, these machines are completely pollution-free. Platinum Logistics Corp Sdn Bhd managing director Albakri Ali said all it takes is a three-point power plug to charge the lead acid battery of the scooter.
“In the future, there will be development of self-chargeable batteries using solar panels,” said Albakri at the MoU signing ceremony between his firm and Silent Force Benelux of the Netherlands here yesterday.
The ceremony was witnessed by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad and the Dutch Embassy’s economic and trade section chief Jacoba Bolderheij.
Albakri said the machines would be assembled in its factory in Shah Alam.
There would be two scooter models, SF 0300 and SF 0400, priced at RM4,200 and RM5,300. The scooters can go as far as 70km at 45kph without charging.
“We are still working on getting the duty exempted so we can reduce its market price. We are looking at about a RM100 or RM200 price reduction,” he added.
