SUBANG JAYA: Two members of a notorious armed robbery gang known as “Gang Jack”, responsible for at least 40 carjackings nationwide, were killed in a shootout yesterday.
The two, including the gang leader, were killed when they retaliated against police warnings to surrender when cornered in Jalan USJ 22/1 in USJ here. The dead were identified as Rizlan Ahmad Tajuddin, 35, and Mohamed Fadzil Mohamed, 34.
Police seized a semi-automatic pistol loaded with three .45 caliber rounds and seven more bullets from inside their car.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Hasnan Hassan said the two were in a Toyota Vios waiting to hijack a car in the area when police officers from the Selangor serious crimes division approached them. Police identified themselves, but the two rammed their vehicle into the police car before opening fire.
“Police returned fire, killing one of them on the spot while the other died while on the way to the hospital after the 2pm incident,’’ he said.
