SHAH ALAM: Executing a perfect cargo or lorry hijack is only complete if there is a ready buyer for the stolen consignment.
It is no surprise then that three of the 10 most wanted men include buyers or fences who specialise in disposing off the stolen items.
One of the top fences is alleged to be Sia Ah Teng @ See Siew Wah (top pic), 62, (NRIC: 470530-05-5161).
According to police intelligence, he has been in the business for about 10 to 15 years.
His expertise is disposing off fast-moving consumer goods.
He had been arrested by police and banished to Kangar, Perlis, under the Restricted Residence Act.
"Sia was supposed to report to the police station on a daily basis. However, he failed to report some time in December 2007, and subsequently disappeared," a source told the New Straits Times.
"He only purchases fast-moving consumer goods from hijackers. Investigations revealed he resold the goods to grocery shops or convenience stores."
Checks on the Khanna Gang revealed that most of their thefts involving consignments of consumer goods were purchased by Sia and resold later.
Sia has at least 10 previous convictions.
