JOHOR BARU: The medium-term link, which is expected to be completed in March next year, will ease congestion around the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex here.
The road is also expected to reduce traffic jams caused by the winding lanes there.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said when MLT was ready, the distance to the CIQ complex from the city centre would also be shortened.
"A series of measures have also been put in place to improve operations and traffic flow at the CIQ complex.
"Elderly pedestrian travellers or the physically-challenged will be aided by staff members with wheelchairs to assist them when necessary," he told reporters after a visit to the complex yesterday.
Other facilities are shuttle buses between the Larkin Bus Terminal, the city centre and the CIQ complex to ease pedestrians' passage to the complex.
One of the complaints from pedestrians was the walking distance and the difficulty of travelling between the city centre and the complex.
