I REFER to the letter by M.G.D. of Medan Damansara headlined "Valuable parking space being wasted" (Streets, Jan 13).

It is true that barricades had been placed at the three side roads that link Jalan Telawi with Jalan Terasik 4, Bangsar Baru.

They were put up to curb rising snatch theft incidents in the area.

The decision to place the barricades was made after City Hall had considered the feedback from the residents' association and the police on ways to reduce the escape routes of snatch thieves.
