PUCHONG: Police seized a RM2.75mil Rolls Royce used as a stunt in the launch of a new website by an internet shopping company here after it was found to bear a false licence plate bearing the words “Sultan Diraja Melaka.”
Policemen patrolling the area were surprised when they noticed “Sultan Diraja Melaka” on the plate of the car, which was parked at the entrance of the company’s building during the event yesterday.
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the registration was confirmed to be false after a quick check.
“As far as we can tell, the car is not registered in this country. The Rolls Royce’s driver was detained,” he said, adding that a urine test also showed that the 35-year-old was high on ketamine.
DCP Khalid said the car, which belonged to a second-hand car dealership, was borrowed by the internet company for its launch.
He added that police were now investigating the origin of the car and the dealership owner.
