KUDAT: The police will be assisted by 4,500 Road Transport Department (JPJ) personnel to monitor traffic flow during the 22nd ‘Ops Sikap’ nationwide operation.
The 45-day blitz, beginning Aug 8, will keep an eye on 202 accident-prone stretches in the country.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said more than five million vehicles were expected to be on the move when returning to hometown destinations, especially prior to the Aidifitri celebrations.
He said, during ‘Ops Sikap’, heavy vehicles were barred from the roads at peak hours (Sept 8, 9, 18 and 19) to prevent accidents.
The deputy minister said this at a function where Ramadan donations were handed over to 150 poor and disabled recipients in Kampung Kusilad, Pitas near here Saturday.
