PETALING JAYA: An online public opinion poll to gather feedback on the reasons behind accidents and deaths on Malaysian roads was launched by Malaysians Unite for Road Safety (Mufors).
Mufors is a community project set up last year to empower Malaysians to stand up for road safety.
Its chairman Noorizah Abdul Hamid invited Malaysians to take part in the opinion poll at www.mufors.org.my
. She said Malaysians can also vote for road safety and pledge to be good road users on the website.
“We hope everyone takes ownership of road safety and that this will transform into a culture,” she said in a press statement yesterday.
Noorizah, who is also PLUS’s managing director, added that it hoped to complement the Government’s efforts in promoting road safety.
The public can choose one out of six reasons listed in the poll as the main cause of accidents and deaths on Malaysian roads.
The reasons are human error, selfish drivers and road users, lack of enforcement, poor road conditions, punishment for traffic offences which are not harsh enough and questionable decisions like discounts for traffic summonses.
