KUALA TERENGGANU: Although there was a 14 per cent droop in road deaths in Terengganu for the first nine months this year compared with last year, more deaths were occurring on roads that were considered safe, said state police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan.
He said there were 221 accidents and 245 deaths this year compared with 252 cases and 273 fatalities last year.
Shukri said a study should be done to find out why fatal accidents on tretches which were not considered dangerous were increasing.
“More signs should be placed on these roads to guide motorists.”
He said enforcement and campaigns had failed to lower accidents.
