High-Tech Car Park To Solve Parking Woes

Automated high-tech car parking solution could be the key to the chronic lack of parking space in Kuala Lumpur, according to Takashimaya Group Chairman Dato’ Dr Lennon Tan. Speaking at a recent pre-launch of Times Avenue, an integrated office and retail space development developed by Takashimaya, Tan revealed that they will be collaborating with Korea’s Hyundai group to deliver an automated high-tech car parking solution which boasts convenience, safety and security. He added that similar innovative parking systems have already been deployed by global auto manufacturers for high volume car production storage, and are widely used in Europe.

“We hope that more property developments will follow in Times Avenue’s footsteps to alleviate car park shortage and help beautify KL city by eliminating unsightly street level car parks,” said Dato’ Dr Lennon Tan.

The fully automatic, computer controlled system will offer tenants and visitors alike a safe and convenient way of parking their vehicles. Once they drive into the car parking area, they just need to lock up their cars and leave. The automated car park system will take over. When they want to retrieve their cars, they just need to scan the parking ticket which will tell the approximate time of delivery. It usually takes 2.5 minutes to retrieve a vehicle.

Costing an estimated RM10 million, this state-of-the-art multi-level parking system can accommodate a total of 140 cars stacked vertically alongside the 15-storey building structure as well as horizontally on three basement levels. There are two systems being built into the building: vertical multi-level and transfer device rotator.
