JOHOR BARU: Due to an old and rusty pipe, galloons of water burst out and leaked onto the Jalan Tebrau near the Majidee Police Station here causing the road to partially flood.
Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) Holdings Sdn Bhd head of corporate communications Jamaluddin Jamil said that he received a complaint about a burst pipe at around 10am yesterday.
“Officials from SAJ quickly rushed to Jalan Tebrau and saw that the pipe had burst causing water to stream down to the main road.
“Even my officials were shocked to see the large quantity of water which was gushing out of the rusty pipes,” he said adding that it was an operational burst.
Jamaluddin explained that the water continued to gush out of the pipe for about half an hour before officials arrived at the scene.
“It took us about two to three hours to repair the damaged asbestos cement pipe which is about 200mm in diameter,” he said.
He added that so far, no reports were made by nearby residents on water disruptions at their areas.
“The public have to be commended for quickly contacting us about the burst pipe and this has helped curb unnecessary water wastage,” he said.
