Barriers have been put up along the middle of Jalan Aman to solve the problem of indiscrimate parking along the narrow road.
Jalan Aman is the only access road shared by four apartments – Seri Puri, Aman Puri, Aman Dua and Aman Tiga - in Desa Alam Puri, Kepong.
A few residents had earlier complained to that the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) which had put up the barriers without consulting the residents.
However, at a press conference organised by the Seri Puri Residents Association, MPS councillor for Zone 21, Lee Khai Loon said it was not always possible to please everyone.
“Our priority is to solve the access issue for residents due to indiscriminate parking along Jalan Aman,
“We will try to find solutions on how the council can help to provide more parking lots, considering that the road is on a slope.
“Once the budget and engineering issues are approved at state level, we will implement it,” he said.
He said the residents association had also applied to Tenaga Nasional for a piece of reserve land to be converted into a parking lot.
Lee said cars that were indiscriminately parked on both sides of the road could pose a danger during an emergency.
Association secretary Edward Lee claimed that before the barriers were set up by the council, residents had a tough time maneuvring their way through the narrow road, with cars parked on both sides.
“Most residents dreaded going out on weekends because it is difficult to drive with cars parked on both sides of the road,” he said.
Edward thanked the council for helping to solve the parking problem along the road.
“We are satisfied with their response time,” he said, after presenting a certificate of appreciation to both Lee and a MPS engineering department representative.
Another resident also pointed out that there were cars indiscriminately parked at the T-junction between Jalan Aman and Jalan Wangsa Utama.
