Local councils should allocate a minimum of two parking lots for emergency cases at clinics in commercial areas, said Pusat Bandar Country Homes MIC chairman Madhu Marimuthu.
Madhu, who is also a MIC Central Committee member, said there were some emergency cases where the patients needed treatment fast and as such they need to park in front of clinics.
“Accident victims and patients with serious breathing difficulty are unable to walk far to get to the clinics.
“The councils should create parking bays in front of clinics in the interest of the public,’’ he said.
He said this after visiting six clinics in Bandar Country Homes in Rawang.
“There should be a signboard stating ‘‘Emergency cases only” at allocated parkings lots,” he added.
Bandar Country Homes Residents Association (BCHRA) chairman Soong Beng Khoon said until now, the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) had not charged for parking at the clinic in Bandar Country Homes.
