KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists gearing up for the balik kampung rush on the North-South Expressway (NSE) can expect a smoother drive.
PLUS Expressway Bhd has come up with its Travel Time Advisory that has been proven effective based on the trial run during the recent Merdeka holidays.
“We are expecting 1.2 million vehicles on the expressway,” said PLUS managing director Noorizah Abd Hamid.
“We have more than 1,000 staff working at any one time to cater to the volume of traffic expected. Travellers are urged to follow the Travel Time Advisory.
“We are also deploying additional resources and initiatives including Aerial Traffic Surveillance, Emergency Response Teams, 117 PLUSRonda Teams, HQ Reserve Unit, customer service centres and 24 Touch ‘n Go Top up lanes, which will be open from 7am to 11pm.”
She added that rest and service areas and lay-bys would be open 24 hours with extra toilets, surau and parking facilities.
Free coffee is available at selected lay-bys from today till Friday between 4pm and midnight.
