THE Senai-Desaru Expressway, which is 70 per cent completed, is expected to be fully operational by June next year.
State Public Works Committee chairman Datuk Baderi Dusuki said the expressway runs from the multi-level interchange at Senai, linking the North-South Highway and SecondLink Highway to the multi-level interchange at Ulu Tiram under the first package and continues through Cahaya Baru and ends at Pasir Gudang for the second package.
"The entire 50-kilometre stretch is expected to be operational by June, while the third package from Cahaya Baru interchange to Penawar, a 27-kilometre stretch, will be ready by August next year."
Baderi said this in reply to a question raised by Dr Mohamed Azam Rauzan (BN-Penawar).
He said the third package would include a bridge crossing Sungai Johor which is expected to be ready in December next year and fully operational by February 2009.
