KUALA LUMPUR: A two-hour downpour from 5pm yesterday caused flash floods in some areas and massive traffic congestion in the city centre.
Sungai Bunus overflowed at several stretches, causing vehicles to be stranded along Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Pahang and Jalan Masjid India.
Traffic congestion was heavy along several major roads, including Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Syed Putra, Jalan Mahameru, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Pahang as well as at the Cheras Billion roundabout, Brickfields and Pantai Baru.
A spokesman of the Jalan Bandar Traffic Police said there was bumper-to-bumper traffic at the affected roads and policemen were deployed to monitor and direct traffic. – Bernama
