THE closure of the 600m stretch of the Federal Highway in Klang, which was scheduled for yesterday, has been postponed to next week.
Sungai Pinang state assemblyman Teng Chang Khim said the state Public Works Department delayed the closure because the piling machines had yet to arrive.
“The stretch will be closed once the machines arrive,” he said in a statement.
Teng said he received a number of calls from residents over the confusion on the closure of the stretch yesterday.
He only knew about the sudden change of plans after calling the department, he added.
The stretch was supposed to close from yesterday for 18 months to facilitate upgrading work.
Two inner lanes on each since of the stretch from Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim (near RHB Bank) to the Kota Bridge (near Plaza MPK) would be closed to make way to piling work.
The two outer lanes of both sides along that stretch will remain open.
The project is expected to completed at the end of next year to ease traffic congestion in the town.
