All about motorcyclists and super bikers... how attractive are the super bikes and also, occasionally how some of them irritate us with their crazy zigzagging... and ops sikap etc...

Gangs steal bikes and resell them at dirt-cheap prices

KLANG: Rustling may have been a cowboy thing in the wild, wild west but in this town, the rustlers are not going after cattle and steeds. It's motorcycles they are after.

They were so well organised that within hours of grabbing a six-month-old motorcycle, they can flog it off to some teenager for RM200.

News that teenagers were able to get almost new motorcycles for practically nothing reached the ears of Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Mat Yusop, who then ordered surveillance in Klang South.

This good piece of “sheriffing” led to nine men being arrested for the resale of the stolen motorcyles.

“Our Vehicle Theft Unit led by Chief Inspector Andrew John Samuel conducted surveillance under Ops Team Lejang and his team was successful in the arrest of those involved in stealing motorcycles throughout the Klang district,” he said.

ACP Mohamad added that the arrest of the nine men within six days also led to the recovery of 18 stolen motorcycles and several cannibalised motorcycle parts.

“The groups were active in Klang South, Shah Alam and Banting. With these groups smashed, we consider the 51 cases of stolen motorcycles in Klang as solved,” he said.

ACP Mohamad added that the suspects, aged 18 to 34 years of age, would steal the bikes and dispose of them within three hours at dirt-cheap price.

All nine have been remanded and face seven years in prison if convicted.
