IPOH: A list of recommended prices for various services, tyres and spare parts will be available to the public at 2,058 service centres and dealers by September.
The list is being prepared by the Malaysian Association of Tyre Retreaders and Dealers Societies.
Its president, Tan Heong Thong, said while the association could not control workshops or dealers from increasing their prices, it felt there was need to give some price guidelines to the public.
He said service charges had increased by 20 per cent, while tyre prices increased by 12 per cent for passenger cars and 15 per cent for commercial vehicles since January.
One example he cited was wheel alignment for cars (1,800cc and below) should now cost RM25 for the front wheels and RM45 for all four wheels, while cars of higher engine displacements should be charged RM35 and RM60 respectively.
As for tyres, their prices had increased even before the government announced the fuel price hike in June.http://www.nst.com.my/Tuesday/National/ ... index_html
