PETALING JAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is updating its computer system to accommodate the new road tax for private and commercial diesel vehicles.
Until this is complete, those renewing their road tax have to pay based on the old rates, JPJ director-general Datuk Ahmad Mustapha Abdul Rashid said.
“Nevertheless, the difference in the road tax can be claimed from any JPJ department or branch,” he said in a statement yesterday.
A photocopy of the claimant’s bank book or statement, the owner’s or a representative’s identity card and the JPJ K6 form are required to make the claim.
The JPJ K6 form can be obtained at all JPJ offices or downloaded from www.jpj.gov.my
, and the refund will be deposited into the claimant’s account.
It was announced in Budget 2009 that from Sept 1, the road tax for private diesel vehicles would be adjusted to the current rate for petrol vehicles.
