PUCHONG: Police seized a RM2.75mil Rolls Royce used as a stunt in the launch of a new website by an internet shopping company here after it was found to bear a false licence plate bearing the words “Sultan Diraja Melaka.”

Policemen patrolling the area were surprised when they noticed “Sultan Diraja Melaka” on the plate of the car, which was parked at the entrance of the company’s building during the event yesterday.

Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the registration was confirmed to be false after a quick check.

“As far as we can tell, the car is not registered in this country. The Rolls Royce’s driver was detained,” he said, adding that a urine test also showed that the 35-year-old was high on ketamine.

DCP Khalid said the car, which belonged to a second-hand car dealership, was borrowed by the internet company for its launch.

He added that police were now investigating the origin of the car and the dealership owner.

In Kuala Lumpur, police arrested four men believed to be members of drug syndicates and seized narcotics worth about RM530,000 in three separate raids in the city and Selangor this week.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Wira Muhammad Sabtu Osman said police detained a 41-year-old man in Kg Baru at 7.40pm on Wednesday and found 5.6kg of ganja in his bag.

He added that another 29 slabs of ganja weighing 27.2kg was found in the man’s car and 0.9kg in his house. His accomplice, a taxi driver, 55, was also picked up.

Muhammad Sabtu said police also arrested a 38-year-old security guard in Taman Melati, Setapak, on Tuesday night and seized five packets of heroin weighing 2.3kg worth RM65,000, 0.21kg of ganja, RM9,000 cash and two cars.

In the third raid, a 46-year-old deejay was found to be carrying RM150,000 of Eramin 5 pills in his car after he was stopped along Jalan Utama, Sg Besi on Monday night.
