RTD plans to list authorised agents

Postby admin » Tue Jun 24, 2008 3:29 am

PEOPLE who install NGV kits without authorisation from the Road Transport Department are breaking the law.

Currently, 28 installers have a certificate of authorisation from the RTD, said Mohamad Dalip, the RTD officer in charge of NGV conversions.

To obtain proper authorisation from RTD, the installer needs to have credentials from the Department of Skills Development (formerly known as MLVK).

Mohamad said RTD was now receiving applications every day from those wishing to be authorised NGV installers. Previously, there was only one every two weeks.

Motorists can cross-check an installer's credentials with the RTD. A list of authorised NGV installers will soon be listed on the department's website.
The installers also need to issue car owners with conversion certificates which they have to take to Puspakom to get a safety check done.

Mohamed said insurance companies did not cover NGV cars damaged in accidents if they were not properly certified.
