PETALING JAYA: Motorists travelling on 25 highways during the Chinese New Year holidays will receive a special ang pow in the form of toll rebates and discounts.
Highway concessionaires will offer between five and 37% rebates and discounts.
Toll rebates for highways under Plus Expressway Bhd is from Jan 19 to Jan 23 and Jan 27.
Other highways will offer rebates from Jan 22 to Jan 24.
Among the 25 highways are the North-South Expressway (NSE), Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Sprint Highway, KL-Putrajaya Highway, Duke Highway, Kesas Highway and Silk Highway.
Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Himmat Singh, who announced the rebates, also said that the ministry would limit repair and construction tasks to critical works in support of Ops Sikap 25, which is until Jan 30.
“Some 3.9 million motorists are expected to use the highways during the festive season.” he said during the launch of a road safety campaign at Litrak Complex yesterday.
Heavy vehicles will be barred from the highways on Jan 21, Jan 22, Jan 28, and Jan 29.
Himmat also said that over RM17mil was spent to rehabilitate 55 accident-prone “black spots” on federal roads and highways last year.
