KUALA LUMPUR: The GTP’s efforts to improve the experience of traveling by public transport have shown positive results, particularly in the increased demand of Touch ‘n Go cards for fare transaction on board buses and rail transits.
The electronic payment system provider, Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd, expects sales of two million cards this year, which is mainly contributed by the high volume of cards used for public transport.
Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Hasni Zarina Mohamed Khan attribute this to the recent integration of the new Bus Ticketing System into the RapidKL bus service.
Hasni said the penetration rate of card sales this year has hit a first-ever 70%, which was a major leap from the one percent back in 2004.
She said the company is expecting to increase its penetration to 90% in the coming months.
