RESIDENTS in Brickfields are wondering why two roads have not been renamed after two prominent Indian leaders following an announcement by Deputy Federal Territory and Urban Well-Being Minister Datuk M. Saravanan last year, reported Tamil Nesan.
The leaders are MIC’s third president K. Ramanathan Chettiar and the former Indian Progressive Front president Tan Sri M.G. Pandithan.
Residents are hoping the Brickfields area, currently undergoing a major facelift, can have two roads named after the leaders to honour the sacrifices and contributions they made.
It is hoped that the road signs honouring them will be put up before the official opening of the Brickfields area next month.
The paper also said the last time a road was named after an Indian was about 28 years ago and the honour went to Tun Sambanthan.
