RM120m to reduce traffic snarls

MIRI: The Works Ministry has allocated RM120 million for a road project that will reduce traffic congestion between Jalan Pujut and Bandar Baru Permyjaya.

Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said the project involved upgrading Jalan Pujut and Kuala Baram into two lanes, installing traffic lights and expanding the bridge.

"About RM30 million will be spent this year while the remaining next year. The project will start next month and is scheduled for completion in two years," he said after visiting the project site here yesterday.

The project is important to the Sarawak economy as it links Curtin University Sarawak campus and several heavy industry training institutions in Kuala Baram.
