The mushrooming of stalls along Jalan Desa Jaya in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, is causing congestion because motorists park on the road to buy snacks.

The stalls, selling pisang goreng, cakes, drinks, fruits and nasi lemak, are near a mosque, police station and school.

The congestion is worse before and after school hours in the morning, afternoon and evenings and the road is the only access to Bandar Country Homes.

Selayang municipal councillor Gunarajah R. George said there had been a few accidents when motorists stop to buy snacks.

“I have discussed with the council and want to place all the stall operators at a designated area in Pusat Bandar Country Homes so that it will not inconvenience motorists,’’ said Gunarajah, at his service centre in the township.

Bandar Country Homes Market Traders Association chairman K.H Low said business at the market was affected because of the stalls.

“Residents and motorists stop along the way to buy cakes than come to the market,’’ he said.

Gunarajah had proposed to the council on making the roads in the township one-way streets to ease congestion and it would be implemented on April 1.
